Can anyone be free from demons? Let us deal with this topic in a question and answer format:
What are demons?
Demons are invisible spirit beings who were once angels in heaven but because they joined Satan in rebellion against God, were cast out from heaven. They are regarded as fallen angels doomed for hellfire. They are not mindless robots as some ignorant people depict them but are highly intelligent and organized in structure and operations. There is nothing good about them as they hate God, Children of God and the creation of God. Their primary goal is to make life miserable and hell for mankind, especially those who have become Born Again. (Read II Peter 2:4; Isaiah 14:12-15; Luke 10:18; Matthew 25:41; Ephesians 6:12)
Where did they come from?
They were created by God as spirit beings (angels) and so they have a beginning and ending. They will end up finally in the lake of fire with Satan. Revelations 12:7-9 says 'And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him'. (Read also Matthew 25:41).
Why do they like to possess human beings, animals, and inanimate objects?
That is the easiest way for them to express themselves. Matthew 12:43-45 says 'When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.' It is better to keep demons away than to allow them in or to re-enter. Samson learnt his lesson the hard way.
Who is their master?
Ephesians 6:12- Satan with a highly organized structure comprising of principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. To attack them effectively, pray this prayer point regularly 'every satanic and demonic network against me and my family, be scattered and destroyed by the fire of God in Jesus Name. Amen'
what is their mission?
John 10:10 To steal, kill and destroy. Demons are out to steal your joy, kill your divine dreams and aspirations and destroy your divine testimony on earth. You must not give them a place as 'the best form of defence is attack'. When they know you are spiritually on the offensive against them, they are likely to leave you 'for sometime' and look for lukewarm Christians.
How do they come in?
They must have a ladder, window, door or opening to come in, usually through Sin whether committed deliberately or unconsciously. Luke 22:3-6 A demon of greed, ingratitude and betrayal was assigned to Judas to betray his Master, Saviour and Lord with the consequence of ending his life in hellfire through suicide. No one commits self or assisted suicide and escapes hellfire! Your breathe was given to you by God as a loan and you must give account of yourself to God whether you like it or not! No excuses for suicide at all!!! ROMANS 14:12 says 'So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God', and there is no second chance when you die.
What do the demons fear most?
The Blood of Jesus Christ and the Word of God (Revelations 12:11). A Demon is also regarded as a strongman in relation to being far stronger than the natural man, and they fear the ONE (JESUS CHRIST) who is stronger than the strongman (satan and all his demons). Luke 11:20-22 says 'But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt thekingdom of God is come upon you. When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armor wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils'.
